Dorine Jansen was born in the city of Nijmegen in the Netherlands. After studying at the Pedagogical Academy, she worked in education. Since 2009, she has lived in the beautiful Alto Alentejo in Portugal
Always looking for a way to express herself creatively, she came in contact with the "dot" technique, where dots of
paint are placed in patterns on a surface.
In 2021, her attention was refocused on this technique and from then on she discovered more and more
opportunities to, as she puts it, "play with paint".
Besides on painting canvas, she makes her patterns on anything that can hold paint.
Dorine's work is a search for harmony; balance in colour and in form.
In preparation for her work, she uses some tools, such as a protractor, a compass and a ruler to plot "support lines" on the canvas.
Once at work, patterns form spontaneously around this skeleton of lines.
With almost infinite patience and concentration, the canvas is filled with tiny dots, pearls of acrylic paint.
She prefers to work in circles, as a geometric figure or a magic circle, in which this shape represents infinity; a circularity and repetition that is not interrupted.
Occasionally, she makes figurative work.
